NECB Spotlight: Meet Miranda Toma, Associate’s in Business Administration Student

NECB: Why did you decide to attend NECB?

Miranda: My employer introduced NECB to me to further my education by pursuing an online accounting degree.

NECB: What advice would you give to someone considering going to NECB?

Miranda: Invest in yourself!

NECB: What advice would you give to students to be successful with online learning?

Miranda: Make a plan and stick to it.

NECB: How do you juggle / manage being a student while working and trying to balance everything?

Miranda: I make it a priority to always put my kids first. Explain to them how important education is. I recommend sharing your accomplishments and future plans/goals with your family, so they understand why you decided to get your online degree. Keeping them involved will help them understand why mommy needs time to study. One way to get your kids involved and to make things more “fun” is to set aside time each week (when possible) to study with your kids so they can see firsthand what it takes to earn your degree.

NECB: When things get tough, how do you keep yourself motivated?

Miranda: I am a self-motivated person. I know things get hard before they get easier. My kids help keep me motivated because it’s important I lead by example to show them how important it is to pursue higher education.

NECB: What is your goal / plan once you graduate?

Miranda: Once I graduate with my ASBA in accounting, my goal for the future is to better myself at my current job. I like to help people. Every day, I am learning new things in my classes at NECB that I’m able to implement at work.
