After Mount Ida, Responsible Leadership is Needed in Higher Ed Mergers

Confusion and outrage over the sale of Mount Ida College to the University of Massachusetts Amherst could have been avoided if the architects of the deal had made students the priority. Instead, Mount Ida students were left in tears, with their hopes for the future disappearing before their eyes.

As two college presidents who merged the National Graduate School of Quality Management and the New England College of Business and Finance earlier this year, we believe a “student first” priority could have turned this debacle into a solid win for everyone.
