How Scholarships Help Make Getting an Online Business Degree a Reality

Janice Little

With Thanksgiving approaching at the end of the month, many people think of November as a time to take stock of their life and be grateful for what they have. For NECB students, one of those things is their education.

What many do not know is that November is also National Scholarship Month. And while education is an important tool that can add value to people’s lives, an education that fits into your budget is something for which you can really give thanks.

Online Business Administration Program Changed a Student’s Life

Janice Little of Chattanooga, Tennessee has experienced this firsthand while earning her business administration degree online. Little was enrolled in Virginia College, earning her associate’s degree in the healthcare field and looking to climb another rung on the educational ladder. She set her sights on earning a bachelor’s degree and applied for the President’s Business Leadership Scholarship. When the president of Virginia College told her that she was a scholarship winner, Little was beyond thrilled.

“I was overwhelmed. I cried,” she says. “And he let me know that he was going to approve my scholarship letter.”

At age 57, Little is not a traditional student. She has worked as a nurse for over 30 years. After getting both hips replaced, a result of years of walking down hallways and moving patients around, Little wanted a less physically demanding job. Her online business administration degree will help her achieve this goal.

“Going back to school at this age, it does have its bottlenecks, but I’m determined to finish,” Little says.

Scholarships for Business Degree Programs

The President’s Business Leadership Scholarship, which covers 25% of NECB’s standard tuition rates for an online degree in business administration, among other programs, allows Little to fulfill her dream of earning another degree: “It helps me tremendously because I couldn’t afford that if I did not have the scholarship.”

After finishing her online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Little hopes to pursue a master’s degree in either human resources or healthcare administration ? hopefully at NECB.

The President’s Business Leadership Scholarship is one of a handful of awards available to prospective and current NECB students. To learn more about the various financial aid and scholarship opportunities NECB offers, visit the Scholarship webpage.
