Travel to Commencement
Taking the "T"
The Back Bay Events Center is easily accessible from either the Green or Orange subway lines.
Green Line (Arlington station stop): From the intersection of Arlington and Boylston proceed west down Boylston St (with the Arlington Street Church on your right hand side) until Berkeley St intersects Boylston. Take a left down Berkeley Street and proceed two blocks to the intersection of Berkeley and Stuart Street. The Back Bay Events Center is located on a corner of this intersection.
Orange Line (Back Bay station stop): Exit Back Bay station using the rear exit (Clarendon St. side) and take a left. Proceed one and a half blocks until you hit Stuart Street. Take a right on to Stuart and proceed one block to the intersection of Stuart and Berkeley. The Back Bay Events Center is located on a corner of this intersection.
Red Line: Transfer at either Park Street or Downtown Crossing station to a Forest Hills-bound Orange Line train. Exit Back Bay station using the rear exit (Clarendon St. side) and take a left. Proceed one and a half blocks until you hit Stuart Street. Take a right on to Stuart and proceed one block to the intersection of Stuart and Berkeley. The Back Bay Events Center is located on a corner of this intersection.
Driving: Back Bay Events Center provides the following driving instructions:
Boston does have its traffic issues. Consulting Google Maps, or smartphone apps such as Waze will detail traffic concerns on the big day.
From the North (I-93 South or Rt. 1 South): Take the Storrow Drive exit off Interstate 93 South. Follow signs for Copley Square. Take the Copley Square exit and turn right onto Beacon Street. Drive two blocks and turn left onto Clarendon Street. Drive six blocks and turn left onto Stuart Street. The facility is located one block ahead on the left at the corner of Berkeley and Stuart Streets.
From the South (I-93 North): Take the Mass Ave. exit off Interstate 93 North. Continue straight through two sets of lights and stay right toward Frontage Road/Ted Williams Tunnel. From the left lane, follow signs for South End/Back Bay and turn left onto East Berkeley Street. Continue on East Berkeley to Columbus Avenue onto Berkeley Street. The facility is located one block ahead on the left at the corner of Berkeley and Stuart Streets.
From the West (Mass Turnpike/I-90): Take the Copley Square exit, following signs for Copley Square. You will come to street level at Stuart Street. Continue on Stuart Street. The facility is located three blocks ahead on the left at the corner of Berkeley and Stuart Streets.
Validated parking is available at the Garage @ 100 Clarendon. A staff member at the Back Bay Events Center will be able to validate your parking ticket for you. More information (including specific directions to the garage) can be located at www.100clarendon.com

NECB does want you to make the most of this weekend, and as such here is a list of options for staying in the city (this is a list compiled by our Advising team, however, there are an abundance of other lodging options which you may take advantage of in the Boston area):

If utilizing a hotel search engine when making your hotel reservation (Priceline, Expedia, Kayak, Trivago, TripAdvisor, etc.), please ensure that your selected hotel in the Boston area is close to the Green, Red, or Orange line to utilize public transportation when traveling to the event location.

Arrival time for commencement
Doors for the commencement ceremony will open at 12:30 p.m. for Graduates only. Students are expected to arrive no later than 1:00 p.m. in order to ensure there is enough time for robing and organization.
Family members and guests should expect to arrive between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Please note that we will not be able to admit guests or family members prior to 1pm, we ask that you plan accordingly.
The ceremony itself will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m.
Caps and gowns and attire
Caps and gowns (as well as tassels and honor cords) will be distributed before the ceremony by staff members of NECB. There will be members of NECB’s staff on hand to assist with robing.
Students are encouraged to dress appropriately for the event, and recognize that this includes family and friends. Students should not wear shorts, t-shirts or flip-flops. However, students can expect to be on their feet for some time, so appropriate footwear with at least a moderate level of comfort is suggested.
Please note that there will not be space available for students to store personal items during the ceremony. Personal items may include (but are not limited to): purses, backpacks, jackets or hats.
Please arrange to leave all personal items with a guest or family member ahead of time.
NECB respectfully requests that students limit the number of attendees to a maximum of six (6) people.
We will be Live-Streaming the Commencement Ceremony for those family members or guests who are unable to attend. Below is the link to the streaming website.
If you or a guest require accessibility accommodations, please touch base with your Academic Advisor prior to the Ceremony for details on the services available at the venue.
Diplomas are expected to be received 6-8 weeks following your individual conferral date. Students who attend graduation but have some coursework left to finish over the summer should expect their diplomas to arrive in the weeks following the September 2019 conferral date.
NECB will host a reception honoring all graduates and their families in the ballroom of the Back Bay Events Center. There will be light refreshments served.

NECB Alumni event Friday May 31st
The NECB Alumni event will be open to graduating NECB students and will be held at the stunning State Room in downtown Boston. Graduates are encouraged to attend so that they can mingle with their fellow graduates, meet with faculty and staff, and celebrate their hard work and accomplishments on the eve of commencement. More specifics about the event, including how to RSVP, will be forthcoming, so mark your calendars!
