More About the Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning

  • The credits earned in this certificate program are transferable to the Master of Science in Finance program if a student elects to continue his or her education after completion of the certificate.
  • While an undergraduate degree is required, students earning a bachelor’s degree in fields other than business will be considered for admission.
  • Prospective applicants should demonstrate prior academic knowledge or professional experience for the certificate they apply for.

Financial Planning is a Growing Profession

Employment of personal financial advisors is projected to grow 30 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations*. As the population ages and life expectancies rise, demand for financial planning services should increase.

The median annual wage for personal financial advisors was $90,530 in May 2016. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $41,160, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $208,000*.
