Professional Projects or Initiatives of Interest

Software defined radio (SDR) is a relatively new technology that replaces hardware radio components with software. Some of the advantages include quicker introduction of radio products to the market, reduction in radio development cost due to software reusability, and in-the-field upgrades to radio firmware. However, as with many new developments, there are unintended consequences. In the case of SDR, development software is now freely available and available via open source, which means anyone with an interest can download a copy and experiment.

This experimentation will be used to validate anecdotal wireless hacking examples by replicating the hacking methods while using similar hardware and software.
