Contact me with for questions or information on healthcare compliance. I have a diverse background in healthcare compliance, so I can help students with questions relating to research compliance, HIPAA, privacy issues, pharmaceutical and biotech compliance.

Professional Projects or Initiatives of Interest

Rhode Island Quality Institute - Implementation of a cyclical review process for policies, procedures, compliance risks and controls for the organization. I worked with the senior leadership team to develop a system to ensure that our policies and procedures were reviewed on a routine basis, in addition to an ongoing assessment of our risks and controls.

Professional Experience

March 2015 - Present, Associate Director, Compliance, Rhodes Pharmaceuticals L.P. - Responsible for development and implementation of a compliance program for the prevention and detection of violations of law, regulations and Rhodes policies in all areas of company business operations and practices, with special emphasis and focus on U.S. pharmaceutical sales and marketing, fraud and abuse, Anti-Kickback Statute, privacy, grants, payments to customers, and relevant FDA regulations and guidance. Responsible for expense related monitoring and all projects related to compliance with the federal Physician Payment Sunshine Act and similar state transparency laws related to health care professional expenditures.

February 2013 - March 2015, Senior Manager, Risk Management & Compliance; HIPAA Privacy Officer, Rhode Island Quality Institute - Responsible for development and day-to-day management of the compliance program, including collaboration with the Board of Directors and Audit & Compliance Committee to develop and execute the annual compliance work plan, corporate risk assessment and compliance program to ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH and other privacy and security regulations.

November 2011 - February 2013, Manager, Health Care Practitioner Compliance, Olympus Biotech Corporation - Developed and administered the compliance program to ensure the company complied with applicable laws, rules and regulations including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act; Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act; Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act; and the Anti-Kickback Statute.

October 2009 - November 2011, Grants & Contracts Specialist, Boston Medical Center - Received and processed requests to issue grant subcontracts from investigators and departmental administrators. Negotiated research subcontracts and developed a computerized agreements database for management of incoming and outgoing contracts for sponsored projects.
