NECB Privacy Policy
Purpose
New England College of Business and Finance (NECB) is committed to ensuring the privacy and accuracy of your confidential information. NECB does not actively share personal information gathered from its Web servers. However, while NECB does not actively share information, in some cases NECB may be compelled by law to release information gathered from its Web servers.
As part of its commitment to maintain the privacy of its Web users, NECB, an accredited online school, has developed this privacy statement. The statement has two purposes:
- To educate users about privacy issues
- To inform users about specific privacy policies and guidelines employed at NECB.
NECB also complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), which prohibits the release of education records without student permission.
Scope
This policy is effective specifically for the features or data centers of the NECB Website and represents the minimum requirements that must be in place. Individuals or individual areas that have computers and networks may have additional controls and security, but they are in addition to this policy.
Exceptions
The NECB Website may contain links to hundreds of external Web sites. NECB is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of the external Websites we link to.
Information Gathered by NECB
NECB Web servers may generate temporary logs that may contain the following information:
- Internet address (IP address) of computer being used
- Web pages requested
- Referring Web page
- Browser used
- Date and time
The data is used in aggregate by custodians of information technology to tune the Website for its efficiency and is not ordinarily associated with specific individuals. Raw data from the Web server logs is only shared with the custodian of each Web site. Summary reports produced from the logs help Web publishers determine what Web browsers and pages are most popular. For example, if the aggregate reports show a particular Web page is very popular or used more by freshmen than by seniors, publishers might use this information to customize the content of that page and make it easier to find.
Third-party content
Some pages within the NECB.com domain may contain content that is served from external third parties. Please be aware that when you visit NECB.com pages that contain third party content, information such as your IP address, date, browser, and requested page are transmitted from your computer to that third party. NECB is not responsible for the privacy practices of these external third parties.
Security
Although no computer system is 100% secure, NECB has deployed extensive security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of the information under our control. These security measures and our systems are routinely audited and updated by NECB security specialists.
E-commerce
Sites within NECB may enable you to pay for products or services online with a credit card. Although NECB makes every effort to ensure that these third parties provide that these transactions are encrypted, NECB is not responsible for the privacy practices of these external third parties.
Digital Millennium Copyright Act
The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), described as the most dramatic change to copyright law in a generation, was the 105th Congress's effort to update copyright law for the digital environment. Please be aware that under the DMCA, NECB reserves the right to terminate computing services of users who repeatedly infringe upon the rights of copyright owners.
