New England College of Business and Finance Students Gain Valuable Access to Research Resources
NECB Becomes the First Online College Granted Membership by the Boston Regional Library System
Boston, MA (March 25, 2010) - New England College of Business and Finance (NECB) makes history as the first online college ever to be granted membership by the Boston Regional Library System (BRLS). By becoming a member, NECB joins nearly 40 other Boston-area academic libraries, such as Boston University, Northeastern and Tufts, which receive library support services and resources from the BRLS.
The new membership gives NECB students full access to over twenty databases, like Academic OneFile, Business & Company Resource Center, Massachusetts Newsstand, and Global Issues in Context, that support general education and business courses at the College. That equates to thousands of full-text periodicals, along with otherwise hard-to-access industry information, which can play a critical role in the research projects of NECB students and faculty members.
As a further benefit of the BRLS membership, NECB also gains use of the System's interlibrary loan service and document delivery services within the BRLS region. NECB can now participate in the statewide materials cooperative purchasing program. In addition, BRLS can now provide consulting and advisory assistance to the NECB community. NECB library staff members are also now eligible to take part in continuing education programs on issues like reference training, customer service, and use of the Internet.
The BRLS's services are provided through state funds administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The NECB membership in the Boston Regional Library System took effect June 2009.
New England College of Business offers state-of-the-art online business degree programs at the Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's levels. The online courses include access to a variety of online student support services and a robust online library that now includes BRLS services.
