Grandmother of Three Wins Chance to Earn the Bachelor's Degree She's Always Wanted
New England College of Business and Finance's Online Degree Program Will Allow 25 Year Finance Industry Veteran to Pursue Her Dreams
Boston, MA (April 29, 2010) - A 7-year employee of the Peoples Credit Union in Middleton, Rhode Island is the winner of a full scholarship, which will cover the tuition cost for the complete online degree program of her choosing at the Boston-based New England College of Business and Finance (NECB). Nancy Quick, a finance industry veteran of 25 years, serves as the Vice President of Sales and Service at the Peoples Credit Union in Middleton. The mother of three grown children and three grandchildren has taken some undergraduate courses in the past. Winning the scholarship will now allow her to pursue a bachelor's degree online at NECB.
"I welcome the great opportunity that NECB is giving me with this scholarship," said Ms. Quick. "A bachelor's degree is something I wanted for a long time, but I just never had the opportunity. Life gets in the way sometimes, but this will bring me personal satisfaction and solidify that I can do it," she said.
Ms. Quick plans on taking her first online course at NECB in the fall. She won the scholarship through a drawing held in conjunction with The Great New England Credit Union Show, held April 20, in Boxborough, Massachusetts. NECB held its scholarship drawing April 26 to give credit union employees who could not attend the conference a chance to participate in the drawing. The annual credit union event showcases seminars, services, equipment, and technology for members of the financial services industry in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. NECB sponsored a booth and led a seminar, during which more than 100 conference participants gained knowledge about providing their employees with professional development opportunities during tough economic times. It was here that attendees learned that NECB has a partnership with New England Credit Union Services (NECUS), which creates a college tuition savings opportunity for credit union employees and their family members. NECUS members who enroll in a NECB Undergraduate online degree program by July 5 will receive a $500 scholarship toward the tuition cost, and NECUS members who enroll in the College's Graduate online program by July 5 will receive a $1,000 scholarship toward the tuition cost.
Ten exposition attendees also won on-site drawings entitling them to free tuition for one NECB online course. Those winners are Shauna Barnum-Goutte, Members First Credit Union; Donna Chabot, Millbury Credit Union; Jennifer Grenier, Merrimack Valley Credit Union; Kim Gunville, Massachusetts Bay Credit Union; Barbara Lassier, Bellweather Credit Union; Donna McMullen, Workers Credit Union; Deborah Menard, Dexter Credit Union; Catherine Mullen, City of Boston Credit Union; and Irene Tam, Members United.org.
New England College of Business offers engaging online business degree programs at the associate's, bachelor's, and master's levels. Students who apply for NECB's online master's degree programs are not required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The online courses include a variety of online student support services and a robust online library that now includes access to the Boston Regional Library System.
