Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Admission Policy

Candidates for admission are encouraged to apply as soon as possible in order to be accepted to a specific program and starting date. Applicants interested in matriculating into any undergraduate program, including the Associate in Science in Business Administration, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, or a certificate program, must complete the admission process. New students registering in a single course must also complete this one-time application process. The following is required to complete the process for admission to undergraduate programs at NECB:

  • Application for admission and payment of $50 application fee (non-refundable)
  • Foreign credentials must be evaluated for US equivalency by a third-party evaluation agency.
  • Official college transcripts from institution(s) from which you are seeking to transfer credit
  • English and Mathematics Placement Examination
    • A minimum score of 50% or higher on both examinations is required for admission to the college.
    • Candidates who score between 50%-74% on English or Mathematics Placement Examinations will be accepted to the College subject to an evaluation of any of the following prior to being admitted into the college:
      • A high school transcript or GED documentation
      • A required two-paragraph writing sample (100-125 words)
      • A personal interview (by phone or in person) by Admission staff at NECB
    • Students who successfully transfer in a minimum of 12 credits to NECB may be exempt from taking the placement exam.

Student Preparedness - General Education

Student success is NECB's primary concern. Strong writing, critical thinking, and mathematics skills are fundamental to student success. NECB measures student ability in these areas upon application to the College by administering Entrance Examinations in English and Mathematics.

  • The entrance exams will be waived for students who transfer 12 credits into NECB with evidence of passing English Composition and Math with a "C" or higher.
  • Continuing education students may enroll in up to two 100 or 200 level courses prior to taking the English and Mathematics diagnostic exams.
  • Continuing education students who enroll in 300 or 400 level courses are required to take English and Mathematics diagnostic exams or provide evidence of passing English Composition and Math with a "C" or higher.
  • Students who have not taken courses at NECB during the past year are considered re-entry students and are subject to Undergraduate Admission Requirements.
